The Tongue:
There is only one spoken language in DarkSisters. It is called "the Tongue". There are many theories why only one such language exists, but no proof has been found as of the why.
"The Tongue" has many accents but only one written form. All those accents have in common that they can be understood by others - at times with difficulties though.
Accents are shared over islands more then cultures.
[Server Rule: Speak/write English]
Words of Power:
There is one notable exception though, but it cannot be used communicate: the arcane language of the magicians - at times dubbed "Words of Power" et. al.
The names of the runes vibrate are not of the Tongue but are a language for the use of magic itself. Those words can be written down and read easily with the written form of the Tongue. Just do not utter them or their power is released.
It is impossible to do anything else then calling magic effects with it, so do not try to talk with a friend. The force might assume you want to kill him...
Ancient Runes:
A few more languages do exist, but only in written form. There are only few who master those runes of the usually ancient languages, and not even all of them can be read. Many a rune is lost in time and space - maybe forever.
And of those who can read the runes noone is capable of pronouncing these languages. Their roots are rumoured to go back the three millenia, before the Great Flooding.

This is the translation of "Common" English to "DarkSisterish". It is preferred if you use "DS-Speak" in-character and on the forum. However, there is no rule against using the "old" terms.
Beware, however, that in-character the "old" terms can at times have derogatory meanings! If that is the case, it is commented after the translation.
